My friend Orius asked me to design a personal logo for him a while back, and now I've finally made some proper designs for him. He wanted an Ouroboros (serpent) together with a triangle. It had to be slightly minimalistic and sleek. Not too much ornaments and fluff. I figured that making it look kind of like shiny metal would give the symbol a modern and minimalistic touch, so that's what I went for.
The images below are sketches, made with a mechanical pencil, a black drawing pen and a little bit of auto contrast in photoshop. This is as far as we have gotten. Orius seemed to be pleased with them, the only thing that needs to be changed is the head of the serpent. It looks too dragon-like. Other than that the only thing remaining is a little bit of photoshop and illustrator and it'll be done.
Fig 1: This is the one we decided to move forward with
Fig 2: This one I made as a second choice in case the first one didn't work out.
I have to say that I like both logos, but I agree with Orius that the first one was the best one.
I am looking forward to finishing it, but since I'm so busy with Uni it could take a while.

Like I told you earlier, I'm very impressed with the skill you have at interpretation of ideas and adding your own creativity to improve upon it further. VERY excited about this as you might be able to tell :P
ReplyDeleteHehe, I had an inkling :p
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed working on it so far, so it's a good project for me as well.
Hey!! This is amazing!
ReplyDeleteNice design. What amazes me most is how close the second concept looks like a symbol I've always held dear. I would love to know what kind of desire led to Osiris asking for the ouroborus symbol along the triangle. Never ceases to amaze me how subliminal these symbols are and how they seem to pop up relatively often among so many. :)
ReplyDeleteStrange... this symbol also popped up into my head some years back when I was going through a spiritual awakening. For me this symbolizes Trinity, coupled with continuity... flow of life.
ReplyDeleteOne can wonder why the freemasons have grabbed this exact symbol to their chest.... among other spiritual key-symbols. I'm not one of them btw. But I am Norwegian, like your tattooed friend. Funny coincidence that we share this same symbol...

Yes that is quite a coincidence G. Can't say that I'm a free mason either, but I do think that there is something special about that symbol without knowing exactly what that something is :P
