Kikis Delivery service fanart

I love Studio Ghibli, and one of my favorite movies is Kikis Delivery Service. So I took the liberty to make a little piece of fan art, as an homage to Hayao Miyazaki and his wonderful movies.
Illustration made by and belongs to: Anita K. Olsen Stoebakk.

Anxiety and medieval head gear

Apologies for the stop and go posting as of late. I've been struggling a bit with my mental health lately and have therefore not felt like doing anything creative at all. I'm still struggling but I think that the worst part of it is over and done with for now. I'm Starting with cognitive behavioral therapy in April, hopefully it will help me get over my anxieties.

Now instead of moaning about how depressed I am I'm going to share a sketch I made yesterday! Sharing creativity is much better than dragging everybody down in my opinion. Below you can see a pencil drawing that is slightly based of a photo I took of myself and also on a medieval head garb and dress that I was able to photograph when I visited Warwick castle in 2010.

I'm a big fan of history. I love to look at and visit old castles and historical sites. I'm terrible with numbers so I never remember years and dates, but clothes and architecture I remember. I'm particularly interested in nordic mythology and the medieval ages in western europe

Below you can see the photos I used as inspiration and reference!

This was one of the wax figures on display in the Warwick castle

This is a picture of me from 2010

Cooking with magic!

Today I bring you a cute little sketch of an elven witch trying to learn how to cook with magic. Obviously it's not working out too well as she is having a nuclear melt down in her kitchen ;)

She is kind of inspired by my mother, who despite her best efforts often have accidents and bad luck in the kitchen. My fondest memory of my mother in the kitchen is the meat ball incident, where my mother being very sick of canned meatball/vegetable soup placed one of the meatballs on her spoon and sent it flying between the kitchen walls. My brother and I of course thought it was hilarious and I think we were allowed to shoot one meatball each as well. The incident never repeated itself though. We were too well mannered for such things I suppose

Anyway mom, this one's for you :p

update time...

A tiny little update..

I've been busy trying to find a part time job and working on my illustration projects as of late,

and so there has been radio silence from this blog for a long time. I'm planning to give more updates soon. When I have the time to sketch a bit. I will also start attending business courses and that may interest people so I'll probably try to write a bit about that too.

In other news, I finally got a job. I'm not entirely sure of when I start, but it will be soon. It'll be nice to actually have some structure back in my life again. I don't like drifting around in uncertainty, leeching of family and friends.

And last but not least, a little sketch from a drink and draw session I attended:

Perky Pug

It's sketch of the day time again!! or it would be if this was last friday. I was going to put this image up here but I haven't had the time and it sort of slipped my mind, but here it is now

*drumroll*

The Perky Pug

He was originally made for a Q&A round at my Norwegian blog. My friend RoseDoll asked if I could draw a pug. So I found a picture of her little dog Morfar which in English is translated into Grandpa, and used him as reference.

I think he ended up looking great even if I didn't trace the outlines first. This was made freehanded. I just looked at the reference and drew. Which is how it should be done of course. I sometimes feel like a cheater if I trace things, even if I just trace a little bit, but sometimes I will do it if it will save me time on a deadline and I'm not in danger of infringing anybodies work.

Anyways, hope you like it

Until next time
