Portrait

I recently finished a commission for a portrait. The customer was the lucky winner of my lottery contest on www.anitao.blogg.no

I held a contest where the prize was a free illustration in either A4 or A3. The winner was randomly selected and she requested a portrait of her mother. I've had a very busy schedule lately so I've been a little bit behind on work, but I finally finished it.

I usually don't do portraits. I don't feel like I'm that good at it, and I think it's quite boring to copy reality. Not a very great trait for an illustrator, I know. Since copying reality is often a part of what we do. We create illusions, smoke in mirrors, and I really should work with still life and study textures and structure, but it does get boring. Nevertheless I should do it, and this portrait was a good chance to brush up on my skills.

I think it turned out pretty well to be honest. I tweaked it a bit, but kept the essence of the reference I was given :)
