I've been waiting...

Is the title of my latest painting. The girl in the picture is a vampire, she has a slightly mischievous look about her, like she's seeing someone she's been waiting for, an old lost lover, or a human walking into a trap, I'm leaving it to your imagination. I tried to give her a really pale complexion, and play around with lighting at the same time. I'm not really good with lighting. I just paint it the way I think it would look. I gave her clothing and the lamp behind her an old fashioned, slightly victorian look, and made her hair very tossled and modern. I think it gives the picture a nice contrast.

I really like how it turned out in the end. I think I was able to give it a dark ambience, sort of mysterious. The painting was made with acrylic paint and water colour on a regular drawing paper. Please feel free to give me pointers on the lighting or my technique.

comic of the week

Another strip from my school project

translated it says:
Things I like: I like dancing in the rain, when I think nobodies watching. I like to sing when I do the dishes, even though it doesn't always sounds that good. I like reading by candlelight, and I like chocolate. It is really the small things in lfe that makes it worth living.

Happy Halloween ^^

So, I decided to do a little piece in honor of halloween. I made one last year too, and I'll probably do it next year too. I didn't want to make anything cliche this year. I did pumpkins, witches and ghosts oh my last year, and didn't want to repeat myself.

I saw a picture of Emilie Autumn online, she was playing her violin, and her pose was so fantastic I just had to use it. please note the bats on one of the sleeves I painted, the skulls in her hair and the bleeding heart on her corset. All of these are symbols I put in the picture to symbolise halloween.

Life is hard...

Life is hard for someone like me. If I had my way I would be sitting in a nice airy studio all day painting and drawing, but unfortunately it is not so. Like everyone else I am a tiny cog in a giant machine.

Lately it has felt like the little cog that is me is about to fall apart. I'm so tired of worrying about my job, about cooperating with students I don't know or like at school. Iworry about my health, and wether or not I'll keep my grades up. It's just all too much for me. I should probably see a shrink or something, but I'm a little scared of shrinks. I'm a little too proud to really admit to myself that I actually need help too. I've always managed on my own you know.

I feel kind of lost. The only light in my days right now is my beloved other half, he takes care of me when I'm exhausted and he comforts me when I cry. I don't know what I would do without him.

To end this post on a happier note, here is a little personal piece of work I did about a year ago :)

Favorite Fantasy/Sci-fi movies of all times

Ok so I thought I would do a list of all my favorite fantasy and Sci-Fi movies. I used to be the little kid who would borrow her uncle's Star Wars movies and not return them unless I was forced to :P

So this list is a little reminder of the kid I used to be and still am.

1. Lord of the Rings (because there will never be any better)

2. Star wars episode 4, Return of the Jedi

3. Harry Potter (pretty much like all of them as much

4. Stardust ('cus I'm a sucker for romance)

5. Pirates of the Caribbean (prefers the first one to be honest)

6. Dungeons and Dragons (It's so bad it's good)

Comic of the week 2

So this is the second comic strip in a  series of 15 strips. Hope you will enjoy it :)

The text is in Norwegian, translated it says:

For hundreds of years people have been trying to see into the future, by crystal ball,
by tarot card,
or by astrology.
Personally I don't need to know the future.
Surprises are always best when you don't see them coming.

Comic assignment

We've just finished our comic assignment. we had to create our own comic, with plot and characters. Minimum 15 strips per person. I chose to make a comic about personal reflections and points of view. I named my comic "Reflect". I have decided to publish one comic strip a day, hopefully I'll have the time to do so.

Comic of the day:

Dracula poster

This was just a mini assignment. sort of a workshop. The entire class had to watch Bram Stokers Dracula, directed by Francis ford Coppola. The movie is made in a very special way. There are no modern special effects in it, which makes it a very unique movie.

We were supposed to take something from this movie that we thought was interesteing and crucial for the story. I chose the portrait of Mina that Dracula found on Jonathan Harkers desk when Jonathan Harker is visiting him in Transylvania.

In the movie Dracula spills ink on the picture and it flows over the picture frame. I decided to spill blood on the frame instead. It just emphasizes that Dracula is a vampire, and a killer. The fangs I put around Mina in the picture frame was put there to symbolize that Mina is kind of a victim of Dracula, as well as being a willing subject.

This was my first attempt at the pictre in acrylic paint on canvas, but our teacher thought that it was to comfortable for me to work with this medium and asked me step outside of my comfort zone.

So I did, and this was the result. It turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

Loot!

Tha super awesome loot bag. This was a present I made for one of our first-year students/victims. She likes videogames and works in a game store. So I figured she would get it if I made her a loot bag. I  made the bag itslef from brown felt. I baught some pom poms and sowed them onto som golden string, and finally I glued some gemstones on it just because I like sparkly stuff :P

Project management

These jolly little fellows were made for a presentation. The class had been split into new groups and our assignment was to create an assignment for the first- year illustration students.

In our assignment we told the students that the world had been taken over by plants and fruit. they had finally had enough with human pollution. Plants had started to take control over people's minds by dropping seeds into their stomach. The seed start to grow and soon it grows into your brain and you slowly turn into something quite brain dead.
The plants have also grown wild over the cities.
The students were told that there were only small groups of people left in the world, hiding away in shopping centres and other buildings around the world. Their assignment was to develop a survivla kit, so that humans would be able to survive in an urban jungle, with weapons, camoflage and antidotes.

This i s a small selection of mutated fruit :

Our first years won the contest ^^ *gloates*

Mural assignment

These are some of the finished results for my mural assignment. My group won the project, but we did not use one of my designs. It was fun though, I was project manager and being in charge of getting people together and getting stuff done. I enjoyed it ^^

These were designed to fit in the hallway of a Norwegian internet based school.

CD-Cover assignment, part 3

This is the third and final cd- cover for the print assignment. This was made form a carved wood stencil, blue/gray ink, blood/paintspatter and foliage brushes from deviantart. Some details painted with my tablet.

CD-Cover assignment, part 2

This the second cover from the assignment. This was made from a linoleum stencil and black ink, colored in photshop and letters are handwritten.

Cd-Cover assignment, part 1

This is the first CD-Cover I made for our print assignment. This was made from a paper stencil, some digital brushes, black and red pen, and a little bit of acrylic paint.

Lucid Dream_game concept assignment

Well here comes another art post. This was my final product for our game concept assignment.

The story behind it is this: The plot is loosely based on the fairytale Snow White. My young heroinne (Jo) has lost her father and her "evil stepmother" wants his inheritance all to herself. Therefore she has poisoned Jo, and as a result of this Jo has fallen into a choma. She has been hospitalized, and the game begins inside her dreams. In her dreams she travels through different dreamworlds in search for a way to escape her choma. The worlds gradually get darker and gloomier as she gets closer to the answer, which is a magic mirror that she has to climb through to get back to the real world.
During her journey she meets a goblin, he's sort of a helper character, like the dwarves are in snow white. The goblin, named Dwarg is a sarcastic and grumpy little thing, but he's a good guy. Of course there is also a villain, she is the poison that runs through Jo's veins personified. Jo has to combat her several times through the game and at the end they have a final battle.

Cover art for the game, I envisioned it to be a playstation game hence the ps2 logo.

This is one of the environments I made for the game. A dark gloomy poisonous wood, but with an air of magic.

Gillotech, scubadiving without the scuba!

Here is the folder I made for our Info facts assignment, we were supposed to make a pamplet. It had to depict how humanbeings could get an animal trait of choice. My animal trait was gills. So I created a pill that would make you grow gills for a certain amount of time and allow you to breathe underwater.

This is the inside of the brochure.

This is the outside of the brochure. It even has its own nifty logo ^^

Once again comments are welcome :)

more works

Sooo, this is the illustrations I made for the newspaper assignment we had last year at school.
I did not enjoy working on this assignment. Newspaper illustrating sucks. Or rather I suck at it. It just feels very unpersonal to work with.

Feel fre to comment...

McCain locking George Bush out in the cold

making fun of Palin, don't remember the article but it wasn't good .

This depicts how Italian schools are better than Norwegian ones

Made for an article about how some believe that students need more homework, but how is it going to help when parents are to busy or lazy to help their kids

Older works

So I thought I would upload some work from last year

These are some collages/paintings I made for a childrens book project at school.

Not my favorite works but I think they turned out prety cute :)

Saying Hallo...

Ok, so this is me..

This is my first post on this blog. I want to talk about art, geekiness in general and also just share my reflections and opinions of life. If all of the above themes will actually be posted is up to me and up to you, the reader. I love getting feedback on my artwork, or to find new artists to admire and aspire to be like, or learning new techniques.

If you you like RPG or computer/playstation games I would like to discuss it with you. Nothing pleases me more than getting my geek on.

That's all for this post
